This study aims to understand the relationship between the producers of fresh cashew-nut, traders and processing industries in the marketing
process. As a theoretical basis for understanding the chain, authors emphasizing the concepts and theories of supply chain network were
investigated. A qualitative descriptive research was performed through open interviews and focus groups. The sample was considered as
non-probability by convenience, with emphasis on the pursuit of agents directly related to the productive chain in the municipality of Serra do
Mel / RN. Among the main results, the marketing process highlighted, which is closely related to the productive, management and commercial
activity. Another result is the fragility of the relationship between producers and industry. This study leads to suggest a new methodology that
can help preventing the decrease in cashew productivity, since the lack of technology use and cultivation, coupled with the advanced age of
cashew trees, has contributed to make them less productive. Moreover, the lack of awareness by some producers to offer the product within
implications for its improvement.
