Este artigo verifica se os bens objeto do acordo entre Brasil e Estados Unidos
da América no Sistema Geral de Preferências (SGP) beneficiam a balança comercial
brasileira. A pesquisa centrou-se no direito do comércio internacional, no funcionamento
do SGP e nos dados de exportação do Brasil. Os estudos realizados apontam que,
apesar da tarifa não ser o único fator que dificulta a exportação, a revisão anual do SGP
é oportuna para fortalecer o comércio exterior brasileiro.

Abstract
This article verifies if the goods that are object of the agreement between Brazil
and United States of America in the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) benefits
the Brazilian trade balance. The research focused on the international trade law, on
the operation of the GSP and on the exportation data of Brazil. The studies carried out
indicated that, although the duty is not the only factor that hampers the exportation, the
annual review of GSP is adequate to strengthen the Brazilian exterior trade.
