The Brazilian Journal of Animal Law reaches its number 13,
afteryearsofcontributiontoscienticresearchintheeditorial
line of bioethics and the right animal.
The importance of this journal is not just the fact of being the
rstlanguageofLatinorigin toengage inthis lineof research
but in fact have become a privileged forum for debate and re-
searchthathas contributedsignicantlyto theevolutionscien-
ticthinkingtowardtherecognitionofanimalrights
In this magazine have been published articles from leading
researchers in bioethics and the right animal in the world, from
the Richard Ryde Peter Singer, Tom Regan, Steven Wise, Gary
Francione, and no less important authors. To all those teach-
ers, academics and activists, agredecemos honestly, especially
teachers David Favre (Michigan State University College of
Law), David Cassuto (Pace University Law School) and Maria
Teresa Candela (Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona) for the
disclosure of our magazine in international site.
In Brazil, important to highlight the support and contribu-
tions of Daniele Rodrigues (PUC/PR), Edna Day (WSCF), Ariene
Bassoli (UFPE), Carlos Naconecy (PUC/RS), Paula Brugger
(UFSC), Fernanda Medeiros (PUC / RS ), Fabio Oliveira (UFRJ),
Daniel Braga (UFF), Laertes Lead (USP), Vania Tuglio (MP/SP)
and Vania Rall (OAB/SP) and many others, without whom this
magazine would not be so far reaching.
In this edition, begins with an article RBDA International
Teacher Luis Chiesa, from Pace University School of Law, who
discusses the anti-cruelty laws in the U.S., analyzing, from the
case People v. Garcia, that the courts have adopted at least
vetheories about theinterest that these lawsseek to protect
