Resumo
O presente artigo se propõe a discutir as contribuições da fenomenologia de Alfred Schutz
para o campo das pesquisas sobre comportamento sexual e vulnerabilidade para
HIV/AIDS. Primeiro foi realizado um levantamento sobre as principais pesquisas sobre
vulnerabilidade de HIV/AIDS no Brasil, além de uma apresentação sobre as principais
tendências da epidemia. Depois é discutida a teoria fenomenológica no campo das
ciências sociais a partir das contribuições de Alfred Schutz. Por fim, apresentamos uma
discussão sobre a aplicação epistemológica e metodológica da fenomenologia nas
pesquisas sobre comportamento sexual e risco de infecção pelo HIV/Aids, utilizando
categorias como epoché e intersubjetividade.

Abstract
The present article aims at discussing the contributions of Alfred Schutz's phenomenology
to the field of research on sexual behavior and vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. First, an
investigation of the main studies on vulnerability of HIV/AIDS in Brazil was carried out,
along with a discussion on the main movement of the epidemic. Then, the
phenomenological theory is discussed within the field of the social sciences based on the
contributions by Alfred Schutz. Finally, a discussion on the epistemological and
methodological application of the phenomenology in the studies on sexual behavior and
risk of infection by HIV/Aids is presented, using categories as epoché and intersubjectivity.
